Crescent Elementary International Fair

Yesterday was a unique experience for both me and my dance group! My sister and I arrived at Crescent Elementary a little early so that we could get a feel of the area and to try some of the food and drinks from around the world. Some of the places found around the world that were featured are Pakistan, Mexico, and India. I really enjoyed taste testing all of the cultural foods because I had never tried a lot of the foods that I tried yesterday. One of my favorites was a triangular-shaped snack, I think from Pakistan, that was filled with a small amount of cheese and was extra hot when I tried it! I really enjoyed eating that one snack; too bad I don’t remember what it was called.

Soon enough, the rest of our group was there and so we practiced our dance for a while and also helped each other do our hair. We practiced so that we could avoid messing up, and then we gathered our fans and were waiting to be called up to be next. I wasn’t nervous since I am already used to dancing in front of people, but the part that I was nervous about was tripping since the floor wasn’t very smooth. During the dance, I had a great time because I was looking at a lot of children’s faces and they seemed to really enjoy the show. Overall, I think the performance was pretty smooth and I think that a lot of people enjoyed our dance. The dance features our Chinese silk fans, along with our silk costumes that were so soft and easy to dance in!

After our performance, I headed over to one of the booths and I received free henna done by a professional! It looked so beautiful and I absolutely love the henna. Yesterday was a day full of learning about culture from around the world, and I guess burning a few calories at the same time. 🙂
